I'm a self-taught photographer and printmaker based in Southern California. I bought my first camera in 2019, five months before a trip to Italy, after years of stopping in front of photographs and wondering how they could hold my attention so completely.

Since then, my work has ranged from coastlines, landscapes, and architecture to conceptual portraiture and the lives unfolding on city streets. I'm drawn to the relationship between people and their surroundings: a gesture that holds its own against a crowd, or a solitary figure giving scale to an enormous structure. Whether I'm working in color or black and white, I use bold contrasts in light, color, and tone to draw attention to those relationships.

An encounter with printed photographs in a local gallery led me to make printing part of my practice. I print my work myself on a professional large-format printer, using archival fine-art papers and pigment inks. I choose the paper and refine each image through test prints until the light, tone, and detail carry through from screen to paper.

​My photographs Brooklyn Bridge, Malibu Mist, and Desert Dreams are on display at 805 Studios gallery in Westlake Village, California. Breakthrough is currently included in To the Sea, a Griffin Museum of Photography exhibition at the Jenks Center in Winchester, Massachusetts.
